Huge improvements at Stevensons Falls in the Otways are complete, transforming the popular area into a landmark eco-tourism destination for everyone to enjoy.
Thanks to a $2.35 million investment from the Victorian Government, visitors and campers to the area will be able to enjoy exciting new experiences and improved day visitor facilities.
The 500-metre walkway to the base of the waterfall has been upgraded to become one of the longest fully accessible walkways to a waterfall in the country.
Other new accessible facilities installed include a viewing platform at the base of the waterfall, a toilet block, pedestrian bridge, and parking.
Two additional smaller trails have also been created to provide visitors with multiple avenues to explore the site, with the Redwoods Boardwalk showcasing the beautiful Californian Redwoods and the Blue Spruce Walk taking visitors for an adventure beside the Gellibrand River.
Day visitors can also enjoy a new dedicated picnic area, complete with picnic tables and river access, and a larger carpark, making it the perfect site to bring the family.
For those looking to stay in the area longer, the adjoining campground has also been updated, with a new toilet, landscaping and drainage works recently completed.
This project is part of Victoria’s Great Outdoors, a $106.6 million investment in better walking trails, campgrounds, four-wheel drive tracks and visitor facilities to make it easier and affordable for everyone to explore our parks and forests.
