Dimboola and Warracknabeal have officially opened their brand-new Country Fire Authority (CFA) stations, in a boost for volunteers in the Wimmera.
Member for Western Victoria Jacinta Ermacora joined CFA officials and members of both brigades to tour the new facilities, ready in time for the upcoming summer fire season.
The Andrews Labor Government has invested more than $4 million to deliver the two new stations. The Dimboola and Warracknabeal brigades generously contributed $93,000 and $150,000 respectively.
Both sites have three generously sized engine bays with drive through access, providing ample space for modern firefighting vehicles. The new stations feature multi-purpose rooms for meetings and training, enhanced kitchen and laundry facilities and external sheds to house vehicles and equipment.
The brigades also benefit from the addition of well-equipped office spaces to accommodate brigade members and provide support to surrounding group stations.
Dimboola and Warracknabeal Fire Brigades were first registered with CFA in 1892 and 1891 respectively, and both are located within CFA District 17.
Dimboola Fire Brigade has 41 volunteer members and responds to an average of 39 callouts annually.
Warracknabeal Fire Brigade consists of 79 volunteer members and responds to an average of 37 callouts annually.
