Budget 2023/24

Budget 2023/24 Main Image

The Andrews Labor Government is getting on with delivering on its election promises for our community – investing in what matters for the people of Western Victoria.

We haven’t wasted a day delivering the services and projects that matter to Victorians. With the Victorian Budget 2023/24, we’re getting on with doing what we said we’d do.

Panmure Football Netball Club

Up to $100,000 towards the delivery of facilities upgrades at Panmure Football Netball Club.

Portland Gymnastics Club Redevelopment

In this Budget, we’ll deliver on our election commitments to provide the Portland Gymnastics Club with $1.25 million towards facility upgrades.

These improvements to the facility will mean that gymnasts will be able to practice to the fullest extent of their abilities without being restricted by the size and shape of the building.

Our Lady Help of Christians Primary School, Warrnambool

The Labor Government will keep supporting the low-fee Catholic and independent sector to deliver great local schools. With $5 million towards upgrades at Our Lady Help of Christians Primary School, Warrnambool fulfills a promise made by the Andrews Labor Government if re-elected.

This funding will be provided to the Catholic Schools funding body who in turn have indicated that the money will be used to develop a new Library for the school.

New Tech School

Our kids need to be prepared for the jobs they want – and that’s exactly what Technology Schools do. This Budget funds the Labor government’s commitment to open six new cutting-edge Tech Schools, including one in Warrnambool, to ensure local students get the practical experience and confidence they need through hands-on learning.

The new Tech School will provide school students in the district opportunities to explore cutting edge and emerging technologies to see what prompts their interest for their career.  Some of the learning areas include; robotics, automation, coding, 3 D printing, virtual reality and other emerging STEM technologies.

Warrnambool and District Community Hospice

We are committed to providing a end-of-life care system that is respectful, comfortable and modest.

That's why in this Budget we are providing the Warrnambool and District Community Hospice with a one-off grant of $50,000 to support their volunteers run the Hospice in the Home program.

Warrnambool Base Hospital Women's Health Clinic

We are fulfilling our promise to provide a stronger focus on the health needs unique to women.

The new expanded comprehensive women's health clinic in Warrnambool is already changing the way women’s health issues are treated, providing care and support for conditions like endometriosis, pelvic pain, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), perimenopause and menopause.

The additional funding will augment the existing facility with additional focus on endometriosis surgeries.  Delays in diagnosis, treatment and surgery can lead to fertility complications and can lengthen women’s pain and the harmful effects on their health.

The additional laparoscopies will be for public patients and allow for more referrals from the Women’s Health Clinic to be treated.

Warrnambool Base Hospital PET Scanner

We are fulfilling our election promise to provide advanced diagnostic imaging technology for Warrnambool by delivering a PET scanner for Warrnambool Base Hospital – so patients waiting on testing for cancer, cardiovascular disease or neurological disease can get the answers they need, sooner and without travelling.

The $44m package funded in this year's Budget is for 8 regional hospitals including Warrnambool. The Premier Daniel Andrews last year said that ‘Having access to a PET scanner close to home makes a massive difference to patients and their families, it means answers and critically earlier access to life saving care’.

Warrnambool Community Garden

We’re backing the community organisations that provide care, support and services to help Victorians when they need it the most.

Everyone in Warrnambool knows what a massive contribution volunteers make to our community. We’re delivering on our election commitments to support Warrnambool Community Garden with a grant of $100,000.

Budj Bim Cultural Landscape World Heritage Rangers

In this Budget we are providing $1.01M in funding to Budj Bim Cultural Landscape to continue their high quality on‐ground management by Traditional Owners of the unique and world
renowned ancient Budj Bim aquaculture system. The Andrews Government has invested in two World Heritage Rangers since 2019, when the site was first inscribed on the World Heritage List.

The funding will enable the continued employment of World Heritage Rangers to manage the site in accordance with World Heritage principles and as an iconic tourism destination for southwest Victoria.
