Jacinta’s career path has been diverse and varied, driven by her values of fairness and equality and her commitment to community. Growing up on a farm in regional Victoria, she understood early the value of hard work and volunteering.
She became a champion for inclusion and safety for women in workplaces, family and society after working in community health, sexual assault counselling and the primary care reform sectors. Jacinta believes that inclusion and diversity is the right thing to do and good for jobs and our economy.
As an elected Warrnambool City Councillor for twelve years, including two years as Mayor, she worked to achieve fairer services and infrastructure for those traditionally left out.
She has experienced firsthand how partnerships with government can achieve great results for a regional community. As Chair of Wannon Water she understood the importance of responding and preparing for climate change. Jacinta believes embracing renewable investments and jobs through the State Electricity Commission is a powerful example of dealing with climate change and economic strategy.
Jacinta’s priorities as a Member of Parliament continue to be motivated by her values and she is determined to be a voice for outer regional and rural Victorians.
